About Freya

Freya is one of the restaurants listed in Detroit, Michigan. The business is registered at 2929 E Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI 48202; use this page to check its hours, phone number and Google rating before you make the trip.

This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 5–9:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Freya at (313) 351-5544; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is freyadetroit.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on Google across 436 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded restaurants in Detroit.

Detroit is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Detroit follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

My husband and I had a wonderful evening at Freya. We enjoyed a cocktail at Dragonfly and then enjoyed the 9 course tasting menu with the wine pairing. The creative menu highlighted favorite summer dishes using beautiful Michigan produce. My imagination started with the first course and I was having a picnic on a hot summer day. One dish tasted like a hotdog and it was the best deconstructed hotdog ever. Another dish reminded me of a BLT. I was a kid again eating popsicles and drinking Kool-Aid while dancing to Michael Jackson and Madonna. The music took me back to summers in the 80’s. I felt a connection with each dish and it reminded me of family get togethers in the summer. Wonderful service and atmosphere! Cheers to a creative dining experienceπŸ₯‚

After reading some of the reviews, I feel like it’s worth mentioning that a tasting menu is about much more than just eating a few courses, it’s about the entire experience. The pacing, the presentation, and all the little details are part of what you’re paying for. It’s not meant to be a quick dinner, and that’s exactly what makes it special. My husband surprised me with dinner at Freya for our anniversary, and from the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed. We were greeted with a smile, given a thoughtful anniversary card signed by the staff, welcomed with a celebratory toast, and later surprised with a personalized chocolate message and a little cookie to take home. Those small touches may seem simple, but together they made the evening feel incredibly personal and memorable. We chose the five-course tasting menu, and every dish was beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients. The steak tartare was outstanding, and the Ribeye steak was easily one of the highlights of the evening. The smoky flavor paired with the crispy topping was absolutely delicious. The basil dessert was unlike anything I’ve had before, and I loved it. Even the cocktails were fantastic. The servi

While the service was really good, the atmosphere definitely did not reflect that of a restaurant whose prefix is $95 per person. I found the scattered tables gave a feeling more of a school cafe than a fine dining restaurant. The mocktail (Sour Amaro) was really good and the cocktail my friend had he enjoyed also. I got the vegan pre fix and my friend got the meat option. Out of the 5 dishes I had I would say 1 was really good and, 2 were pretty good, and 1 (the tostada) wasn’t that good at all and was a bit dry to the point I didn’t finish it. The dessert was definitely unique and delicious. Overall at this price point and for the food it was a nice one time experience but I wouldn’t say I’d go back for this same menu tasting, I’d be open to give it another try when the menu changes a bit or the price reflects the quality of the food.

I recently visited Freya for the first time to treat my friend for her birthday. We love checking out new tasting experiences in the area and were excited to try it. The food itself was delicious and there were several dishes we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not fully meet expectations considering the cost of the tasting menu and pairing. Two of the dishes arrived barely warm (noodles and venison), and the time between courses felt a bit excessive. The pacing became long enough that we ended up asking for our dessert to go, and we were still there after the restaurant had already closed. While I appreciate the creativity and quality of the food, for the price point I was hoping for a more seamless experience from start to finish. I’m glad we tried something new, but overall it fell short of what I expected.

My date and I had the 9 course tasting menu, both of us were very excited for this dinner to celebrate my birthday! Based on the reviews I read, I’m surprised to report that neither of us enjoyed any of the 7 main courses, the best dishes were the appetizer and the dessert. There was minimal amount of meat/protein in any of the main courses and the flavors when they were offered were not appetizing or ideal cuts of meat. Very disappointed for the $450 we spent on dinner and drinks. The wait staff was friendly but unattentive, not enough workers to serve the full dining area. I would not go back again. And In hindsight after the 9 courses were so bad, I asked to see the 5 course menu and found all the dishes were different and they give you options for each course, that would have been a better option possibly, but it was never described or offered to us until I asked why it took 3 hours to serve us the tasting and everyone else was finished an hour + ago.
